Day 9- Disneyland

Day 9: Disneyland!
Hello everyone! Sleepys here again to bring you news about our adventures out west. This morning found us swatting at our clothes and dousing our belongings with DEET as ants had become our new bedmates. Luckily, a delicious breakfast of cereal from the Bashfuls helped cheer us up. After clearing all our belongings out (and yes brushing our teeth, parents), we gathered around to distribute tickets for today’s excursion. We were off to Disney! A short ride to Anaheim found us spotting glimpses of that mouse we all know so well. Once we had disembarked, our faithful counselors managed to wrangle us into the entrance of the park; we imagine that the security guards at the gate were a little off-put by 80+ teenagers with backpacks charging at them. To their relief, the most dangerous items we had were a handful granola bars and we stepped into the Happiest Place on Earth. Gathering under the sign that began this entertainment empire decades ago, we all grinned for a photo, recognized those who had never been to a Disney park, and even celebrated a birthday (Happy Birthday Rachel)! This huge group of wide-eyed teenagers then moved into the park, spotting famous landmarks along the way, such as the apartment Walt Disney stayed in. The quaint shops of Main Street USA gave way to a jungle landscape as the group took the first of their three rides together. One bumpy escapade (with none other than Doctor Indiana Jones himself) later, and we sang with the drunkards of the sea in Pirates of the Caribbean. Our final ride left some of those a little unsettled by rollercoasters waiting on the ground; Thunder Mountain Railroad. We then broke off and explored the park in separate groups. Some made a beeline for the big name rides like Splash and Space Mountain and others grabbed an expensive bite to eat like the delicious Dole Whip we all know our parents and friends are craving. However, some might have bitten off a little more than they could chew. Grace Ann was so excited by the park that she forgot that her peanut allergy might not be as excited about a chocolate chip cookie. Fortunately, she recovered and got to enjoy going down Space Mountain. You could say that this story ended happily ever after.

At the end of the day, we all met up at our casual meet up place (Mickey D’s). Though our drivers were a little stressed considering the California traffic at night, they still they put smiles on all of our faces and theirs. The bus then took us back to Canyon RV Park so we could stay the night. Maintenance took care of some of the water issues today but that won’t stop us from taking a 3 minute shower and getting ready to go to sleep for the second night in Anaheim.

We go to sleep tonight wishing on stars and hoping to see them tomorrow in Hollywood.

Love,

The Sleepys
